Chick Road Trip

~~~~ Brendan with his main chick Yolk-0 ~~~~
Sitting at work yesterday (i'm manning the office while the secretary is on vacation, usually I am not sitting at all but chasing kids) I was chatting with another teacher when my friend Heather (and also a teacher) bursts in and starts quickly telling me about the lesson they are doing on farms....all the fun stuff and activities she has planned followed with "so can you bring a chicken to work tomorrow" Now there's something you don't get asked everyday. So I'm running home from work on Weds to grab one of the smaller girls (probably Fajita or possibly Yolk-0...definatly not Marsala as she is a brat) so that the preschool crowd can oooh and aaaahhh and observe the wonders of a chicken...I did warn Heather, they poop...and it's usually without warning, she has Lysol wipes on standby!
I really don't care what you eat....seriously.
So this story starts out with me going to the gynocologist....a most unpleasant and horrific event for any woman...I mean really who in their right minds gets happy about this? I like my Doc but well, it's unpleasant. So anyway, after being there forever I decide..."I'm getting a Frappe..caramel frappe because they are so darn yummy"
This was my decision, I wanted one, I'm getting one. end of story.
So in I go...order that bad boy and do a little happy dance (in my head) while my nice little order taker whips it up...oh yes I'll have whipped cream of course! As I turn to leave I run into an aquaintence getting lunch for herself. We exchange hellos and pleasantries, and then she launches into this very detailed reason of why she was there getting lunch and how she hasn't eaten all day and she has been really good about what she eats and so on and so forth as I stand there sucking down my frappe (it was melting, what could i do) listening to this woman justify her eating of her lunch.....ok.......i nodded in the appropriate places and tried not to make a weird face when brain freeze set in and it all ended with her large sized order being placed in front of her. We said our goodbyes and off I went. it wasn't until i started driving home that i wondered, who was she trying to convince about what she ate. Did I give her the impression I was judging her meal? I mean given the place where we were I wasn't expecting her to get a salad (although they do have nice salads and if you are a gluten free goddess like yours truley sometimes that is the only choice) Or was this her way of convincing herself that it was ok for her to eat it? Do they have less calories if you explain your purpose of eating them? I felt bad in a way that she felt that she had to do this. Are we so guilty about everything we do? sigh....i just sucked bottom of my frappe...and I can't say I feel very guilty at all. I made the choice, it's what I wanted, end of story.
yummy goodness........brain freeze.....mmmmm yummy goodness
when life hands you lemons..trade them in for limes and make margaritas!
I saw this saying on a water bottle of all things
yesterday, and why I didn't immediatly buy the darn thing I have no idea. I have decided to adopt this saying as my new mantra....and this is why.
so as you may know my youngest cherub has some pretty kick ass medical issues. I thought I had things pretty well under control and was pleased with the progress he was making and getting him to sleep through the night. I had taken him for blood work to test for allergies upon the request of his chiropracter (whom, we love love love) thinking "he 's not allergic to food, heck we never saw any signs of it"
whoa baby was I wrong! No Dairy! No Peanuts! No Casein! No Gluten (ok that we had already taken care of no big surprise) No Lamb! (not an issue!) No Cheese of any kind! No Wheat! No Beef! No Alfalfa (really?) No Spelt! No Yogurt!
I'm floored, and baffled as to what this kid is going to eat. Autistic kids are usually challanging in the food department...but this puts a whole new spin on things. So this morning he started off his day with a lovely hot millet cereal with real maple syrup and almond milk..if anything his colon will be sparkly.
So here I am, back to label reading and research square one. Somebody say a little something for me 'cause I'm going to need it!
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year :)
Ahhhhhhhh Back to School Time! Tomorrow morning at this
exact time I will be waving to my smiling, happy, skipping with glee down the driveway children.
~~~~~Whoa, rewind...smiling? happy? ummm I think NOT! ~~~~~

Ok, I'll be waving to my sullen, pouting, sleepy eyed, grumbling children who will be dragging themselves down the driveway to wait for the bus. phew, that's more like it!

It's been a great summer, but all good things must come to an end. I have one starting High School, one in middle school, one who will rule the school as a 5th grader, and the youngest will be in 2nd grade...sigh.

I have knitting projects all lined up and ready to go, house needs a good scrubbing, and a lunch date with Diva Deb. Soon enough my phone will be ringing with substitute teaching calls.

bye summer, hello fall!
