ROAD TRIP!!!

We are packed and ready to rock...will be posting pictures when we get back as we will be sans internet access for a whole week......GASP!
I'm sure the teenagers will be cursing my name by the end of the week...all the updates they have missed
(OMG this morning I like ate a bagel LOL!)
I think they will be fine, really.

But do I care if they have to learn a week later that Suzy so-and-so broke up with Hunky-whatshisname or that one of their 800 friends on Facebook that they sat next to in the cafeteria once in 8th grade and asked them to pass the ketchup didn't make the volleyball team? Nope...i'm going to focus on being unplugged and relaxing, with some light knitting and of course chasing Gavin around the yard.

I'm even considering taking him out in the canoe...ooohh ahhh...wild woman on the loose!

Secretly, when no one is looking I have been looking for projects to knit

I have a hoard of knitted Christmas pickle ornaments planned out...

Buzz Buzz Buzz y'all!

The Bees have been very very busy the last few days. I have had to refill their sugar syrup almost daily! They are working very hard at "building out" honeycomb on their second brood box. I'm crossing my fingers that before I leave for Maine I can slap a honey super on there so the Hubbster won't have to try to squeeze himself into my bee gear to out to feed them....did I mention he is terrified of bees? I can't have him doing that..especially if I'm not around to laugh at his antics. I mean really now!

You can see all the white larvae or "baby bees" here...they queen has been very productive for sure! More bees means more honey!
These are the worker bees tending to the larvae..they are feeding them..what good little nanny bees!

I'd like to thank my children for the honor of this title....

The children are not happy about being "unplugged" during our trip to Maine. I have been scowled at and doors have been slammed. I'm holding steady...I just wish my new title came with a tiara....or a margarita.

On the lighter side...I'm in a packing frenzy! 2 weeks to go and I'm on the road! This week Cody is celebrating his 11th birthday (the actual day was during the week he was at Scout camp) and I picked up the pinata today! fun fun fun!!!

Let the packing begin!

In 16 days I will be leaving Massachusetts and heading North to the wild and wooly state of Maine, 6 hours in the car with 4 kids...one of which doesn't always travel well. Dawn says she will be at the end of the driveway waiting for me with a bottle of wine and box of Twinkies....thank God for her! So I've started packing and getting stuff together. Traveling with a kiddo with Special Needs definatly puts a spin on things. Not only do I have to try to figure out what toys to bring (although he will spend the week obsessing about whatever toy I DIDN'T bring) but with his food allergies I have to bring almost all his meals with me. I'm not leaving it up to fate that the grocery store will carry his gluten free/dairy free food, and I have to make sure I have enough of all his meds to get us through.

I have also made the decision to "unplug" my eldest child from her phone. Which I am sure will go over well. I am positive she will survive a week without knowing every move her friends are making. So you will all hear the scream and of course the word will get out that I am the WORST MOTHER IN THE WORLD but I have thick skin and won't let my new title bother me.

We are back from Nationals!!!

Emily got bored on the road trip and started taking random pictures...these are her feet

We made it to New Jersey!!!!

This is her Jersey Girl look....

Scary Scary Tappen Zee Bridge in New York...we screamed the whole way over

Finally made it!!!!
Dancers eat. This is the gang at Texas Roadhouse, no dainty flowers here..they wanted ribs

The Fantastic 5!

We had a great time! The girls won lots of 1st place awards, Hi Golds, Platinum, some made it into the dance off the next day! We didn't get to explore the Poconos very much...but we enjoyed hanging out at the pool with the girls and their families! Next year it's in Lancaster, PA..Amish country...I have to say I'm looking forward to that!!!
