I know I have been a little lacking in the blogging

but I have a very good excuse

I have children

and it's dance competition season

and baseball practice starts on Sunday

and Gavin wants to play outside

all the time

and the chickens need supervision since the hawks are back

and don't even get me started

on the laundry!

Oh and then there is the band performance.

the melodic sounds of a 13 yr old playing the alto saxaphone

fills the house with the sounds of a goose dying.

thank goodness for chocolate!!

AAAAHHHH SPRING! It's so nice to see you back! We celebrated by placing our garden gnomes out....although I think instead of bringing us good luck they are bringing a little snow today..just some light stuff, nothing to get hysterical about.

So I decided that I am going to work on a LARGE knitting project over the summer, I'm going to knit my first ever blanket. I know, seems weird, nice weather coming and I'm knitting a blanket...well, my reasoning is I needed a project that I can put down and pick up when I have a chance that I can figure out where i left off without getting frusterated. I just ordered some lovely yarn and I have picked out my pattern that claims it's an "intermidiate" level...hopfully that is what I am. However, as usual, I do not have the correct size needles for this project since I am usually making smallish quick things. Today I'll have to venture out for the whopping big size 10 needles (dah dah daaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh)

first thing first...must consume coffee.

Shamrock Shake....Diva Style!

It's that magical time of the year...the month of March, weather is getting warmer (well here in New England it is...Sorry New Zealand enjoy your Fall) little flowers are popping their heads out of the ground, the chickens are able to go back out and free range around the backyard and the Shamrock Shake returns to McDonalds Now, I am not a huge fan of McDonalds...their food is pretty gross and my kids have little to no interest in it..except for Gavin who loves their french fries. But I cannot resist the siren song of the Shamrock Shake..but I do it Diva Style. What does that mean exactly? Well I'll tell you, it's a little known Mickey D's secret that you can ask for a 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 green mint shake..and it tastes like a creme d'mint. so good. But, it is only available for the month of March, so you kind of have to get them before they are gone. In honor of St. Patrick's day I am having one for lunch....while wearing my orange tshirt...sorry, but I'm pretty sure my nice Scottish Gran could very well kick my butt from the beyond..I'm not taking any chances.

Today I am a Cotton-Headed-Ninny-Muggins for sure.

Today I had one of those days....you know one of those days when it would have just been safer for the universe if I had just decided to stay in bed all day. If it could go wrong it did go wrong. Here are a few highlights:

So on Saturday I had a little fender bender of my own doing backing out of the garage...I went today to see about getting the said fender fixed, how bad could it be...it's only plastic. Oh it's bad. I got in the car and felt all yucky and sad.

I have a cold so I am a little loopy from the decongestant i have been taking.

I went to the post office, left and spent almost 5 minutes frantically looking for my car keys, near tears I finally go to use my cell phone and cry to "the beloved" and realize I've been holding my keys the whole time.

I went out to check on the hens and slipped in a mud puddle, landing square flat on my behind in a huge, squishy, wet and cold plop of mud.

I'm done. :(

If you take some boys to the zoo.......

They may befriend a goat...being friends with a goat will make them think of helping them out.....
.....so they are going to want to help clean up their pens...cleaning the pens will make them think of their mother telling them their rooms are a pig sty.....so......

..........they will want to visit with the piggies....sometimes their mother tells them they eat like pigs....which will remind them.............

.....that the pigs might be hungry.....so you if take some boys to the zoo...they are going to want to feed the pigs.

The earthquakes in Christchurch New Zealalnd have left many without anything, my pal Cat over at Catalina's Cottage is looking for quilt squares that she can put together to send to a charity center. I spent the better part of last night worrying about my friend Christine and her family who live just 30 mintues outside th city, she reports all is well but the aftershocks are wearing on her nerves :)

Things I miss.............

I'm fine with being gluten free...really I am, I feel much much better, my skin is clearer, my tummy feels better, i have more energy. but sometimes I just miss things. Lately I have been craving Pizza Hut pizza. I love this pizza. and the sad thing is there isn't even one really near me, and it's not something I would even eat on a regular basis, it was a rare treat indeed. Then why all of a sudden do I want nothing but this pizza...and no I'm not pregnant..no weird cravings (and believe me if I was I'd be guzzling orange juice :) ) Just all of a sudden I miss it very much. I consider trying to find a recipe online, but it tastes so much better when it's made for you. Sigh. This weekend I think I'll just whip up some yummy gluten free, dairy free, egg free cookies. it's not Pizza Hut, but I guess I can compromise.

Some Girls Get Chocolate for Valentine's Day...I Get Beekeeping Supplies!

Today, I sat down with the Brushy Mountain Beekeeping Supply company and spoke with the most pleasant woman at 8:30 am and ordered my stuff...and it takes a LOT of stuff. I also ordered my Italian Bees from Beehavin Apiary in Smithfield RI...yes Italian Bees, from Georgia..go figure. We decided that naming all the bees was not a smart move, so we are just going to name the queen. ...drum roll please.....Snookie, from Jersey Shore...a most horrid reality (and I use that term very loosely) show. nice huh?

grouchy day!!!!

Today I am grouchy.

my belly hurts because i ate too many cheese curls.

my toes are cold because i was at the barn all afternoon.

i didn't get anything done that I wanted to this weekend.

i'm sick of looking at snow.

my cats have decided to go on a hairball heaving bender, and

i'm tired of cleaning them up!

I haven't been able to knit a darn thing

Spring Fever!

No snow at all this week

the sun is out earlier in the morning

and later in the day.

the existing snow is starting to slowly melt

and tomorrow we are supposed to get temperatures in the 40's!

it's time for some Spring Cleaning!!!!

I'm restless, and bored and sick of being inside! my closets runnith over with crap that needs

to get thrown out or donated or something! and today, just for fun, i'm going to put

my flip flops on...so they don't forget that I love them.

Hello Angels....new mission for you

I have offically been asked to be an "angel" for 2 different swaps I have been part of! whoo boy! I of course am happy to help, I can't think of anything more dissapointing then signing up for a swap, making a fabulous goodie box and then sititng there waiting, and waiting and waiting for yours to arrive only to be left out of the fun :(

I hope to have them both out by next week! what else is there for me to do on a rainy, cold, miserable winter day? Nothing better than a cup of tea and a little swap crafting!

When I opened the box everything was so beautifully wrapped! I almost hated to tear it apart, but I did...after a few minutes of jumping around for joy that I got something just for ME in the mail!

Look, another layer! I'm a sucker for excellent presentation of wrapped goodies! I had to spend a few minutes just gazing upon it! So nice!

Thank you so much to Elizabeth for making such a nice swap box up for me! I had a challanging day to say the least and this was a welcome surprise when I got home from work! now to hide the chocolate from my teenage daughter :)

ooooh aaaaaahhh cable knitting! aren't I just the coolest?
Today I was snowed in...well iced in, it was the pits. The kids have just about had enough of this snow days off from school...and I agree. BUT I did manage to get some knitting done! I made the gloves the other day while sick on the couch watching bad bad bad daytime TV (yes, i was a slave to watching Maury...and i have to wonder if you are on the show for the 5th time and your still not sure who the father of your baby is after DNA testing 15 guys do you think you may have too much free time on your hands...just sayin) aaaaaaaaaaaaaanywaaaaaaaaaaaayyy I made the gloves, and still had tons of yarn left over....so the hat was born! I think they came out rather nice. But I should have added a bit more to the middle as I do have a rather large sized head. to hold my big brain.....ok I just have a big head.

Dear Snow: It's not you, it's me, I just don't think this relationship is working out. I despise shoveling you.

This is me! I'm going to turn into a penguin soon if this snow doesn't stop! We have had 8 major snow storms since Christmas! Over 40 inches of snow has fallen from the sky onto my area. I'm done with it. Of course I am still sick (sinus infection) but that didn't stop me from going out to shovel the snow off the roof of the chicken coop for fear that the freezing rain we ae getting tonight will cause it to cave in...which would be bad.

So depending on what news station you watch will depend on how much snow they say we are getting, it seems very inconsistant as one will tell you 5 inches while another is claiming 12 is coming our way. Regardless it looks like I'll be home with the kids tomorrow yet again.

My nobe is stubbed ub....sniff sniff aaaaaahhh choo!

I've been sick all weekend. My head feels like a bowling ball is inside of it and my body aches. No bloggy bloggy for me because I'm too icky.

oh and we are getting yet more snow this week....super.
